If you wish to join the waitlist, you must complete this form or will not be considered for admission from the waitlist.
Waitlist FAQs
When will I find out if I am admitted from the waitlist?
Students who accepted a place on the waitlist via the Waitlist Response Form will be notified after June 1 if there is an opening for the fall semester. In the meantime, we understand that you will need to secure a spot at another college by May 1.
May I visit campus this spring if I received a waitlist decision?
We understand that you are eager to visit campus. While an official visit is not possible at this time, you are welcome to visit campus on your own and take a self-guided tour beginning at 401 University Place.
Is the waitlist ranked?
No, the waitlist is not ranked.
Is there anything that I can do to be admitted from the waitlist?
We have already fully examined your application through our holistic review process. However, if you have recent achievements or would like to express your desire to be admitted, you are welcome to submit a letter of continued interest or other materials through your portal. It is recommended that you take this step as soon as possible.
May I join a waitlist for another program, school or college at Syracuse University?
Typically, the Admissions Committee will not change the program, school or college of your waitlist decision. Should you have extenuating circumstances and would like to be considered for the waitlist of another school/college, please detail this information in a letter of continued interest and submit it via your portal.
If I join the waitlist and then I am admitted, is there an obligation to attend?
No. In most cases, you will have 10 days to make your decision.
Is financial aid available to students admitted from the waitlist?
Provided you submitted your financial aid applications (FAFSA and CSS Profile), you will be eligible to receive financial aid.
Why did so many students receive a waitlist decision this year?
Syracuse University received a record number of applications—more than 44,500 for 3,700 spots in the Fall 2024 class. Unfortunately, many qualified students could not be offered admission due to the strength and size of the candidate pool.
